Laura Rice

Lead Vocals and Percussion (2003-2009)

Laura Rice

A new performer on the music scene in 2003, Laura’s rich clear voice brings class and style to the overall sound.

Wherever Laura is she can be heard singing – at work, in the car, walking home or in the shower! At school she appeared in a number musicals including Godspell, Blitz and Joseph & his Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat.

In the summer of 2003, Laura saw an advertisement for a lead singer in a new acoustic band. After a enjoyable audition the band worked hard to put together a varied set list and then played at ‘open mike nights’ to get started. Laura’s confidence has grown and she says that’s all down to the help and support given by her fellow band members.

“I love being part of BKS. Singing is a great passion of mine and I enjoy every minute when practising or performing with the band. We have lots of fun together and enjoy entertaining people”.

In addition to BKS Laura has also performed with local soft rock band Loose Fit.

As well as singing both lead and backing vocals, Laura also plays both the rainstick and the frying pan (yes, really!)

After six great years performing with “her boys”, due to professional and personal commitments Laura decided to hang up her microphone for now. Her last gig with Best Kept Secret was in Taunton on Sat 21st November 2009, although she did help the boys out with three more gigs in 2011.

More recently Laura has been seen fronting other local bands including “High Voltage” and “Not Like The Others”
